Cupping therapy is an ancient healing technique that can be traced back thousands of years. Its origins lie in China, Middle Eastern and Egyptian civilizations where it was used to relieve pain, improve circulation and remove toxins.

What is cupping?

Cupping therapy is a technique where a hard plastic or glass cup is placed onto the skin and suction is created by a pump. The skin is sucked into the cup. What happens is a separation of layers of tissue. This separation allows blood to flow, fascia to release and the body to surrender.

What does a cupping therapy session look like?

We start with an intake of about 10 minutes to get to know what is most present in your daily life and which body parts might benefit the most from cupping. The session starts with a grounding body scan/meditation to tap into awareness of your bodily sensations.

The session continues with applying oil, intentional touch, dynamic and static cupping. With presence and patience, cupping meets your body where it holds tension, memory and energy.  Blood circulation is stimulated and space is created for your connective tissue. The body begins to release if it feels safe enough to surrender.

Through present support, beneath the surface space is created for gentle emotional release. What may be held back (memories, old stories or patterns) and is stored in our tissues, can surface during the work.  The body and spirit feel rested afterwards, there is a renewal of energy flow and a sense of clarity present.
